THE INNOVATORS: FASHION DESIGN STUDIO TAFE NSW
FDS is recognised in Australia and abroad as a leader in fashion education, graduating many of Australia’s top designers including Dion Lee, Zimmerman and Akira. FDS graduates have shaped the development of the Australian fashion industry and its recognition globally. Originally housed at the historic East Sydney Technical College as Sydney’s first dedicated fashion design school, FDS moved to purpose built studios in the educational hub of Ultimo in 2005.
The school emphasises the value of the ‘makers mark’ to the designer’s signature and fosters ethical and socially responsible design practices. Students develop as designers through active engagement with the craft of fashion, developing their own unique design signature.
